Celebrating over 25 years of displaying original art and welcoming art-lovers from around the world in Vancouver's Heritage District of Gastown. This beautiful area with its cobblestone streets and old world charm was recently declared a National Heritage site. With names like Goaler's Mews, Blood Alley, Maple Tree Square and the flat-iron building Hotel Europe; this is the birthplace of Vancouver.
Born on the island of 'Fyn', Denmark, University of Western Ontario (London), Fine Art: Ontario College of Art (Toronto). Sam developed a truly unique and original style early in his professional career. Visiting the major art museums of 17 European countries, while in his early twenties, set the compass for a life devoted to painting.
Although Sam's paintings are executed in the classical oil painting technique, they remain modern in their conception and thought. Originals start from life in charcoal, underpainting and overpainting to achieve a fully realized vision and a beautiful density of clear and clean colour that makes the paintings come truly alive.
In 2019 Sam volunteered teaching art to indigenous Mayan children in Guatemala for 3 months through Project Somos. Truly an experience that touches deep into the heart and soul. Throughout the pandemic Project Somos has provided a food bank and support to the local community. www.projectsomos.org
